Trish Bell named chairman of Community Partnership for Homeless

MIAMI, FL – Oct. 12, 2010 – Community Partnership for Homeless announced today that it has elected Trish Bell, Miami philanthropist and community leader for more than 30 years, as chairman of its board of directors.

Bell succeeds Robert E. Chisholm, FAIA, a founding board member who served as chairman for the past five years.

Bell and her husband, Dan, of Coral Gables are active stakeholders in the community with their volunteer and philanthropic involvement spanning numerous organizations. Her leadership positions include co-chair (with her husband) of the board of trustees of the Miami Science Museum, chair of the South Florida Urban Ministries advisory committee, and she is a member of the board of trustees of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.

In recognition of her continuous involvement in the community, Bell received the 2009 Miracle Makers Award, the 2009 Laudare Medal awarded by Barry University and with her husband received the 2009 Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Humanitarian Award. She also received in 2007 the Sara B. Hopkins Spectrum Award for Philanthropy, the National Institute of Philanthropy Award and was selected by the Junior League as a Woman Who Makes a Difference. In 2008, she was an American Cancer Inner Circle Honoree.

Bell has been a member of CPH’s board of directors since 2004 and served as vice-chair since 2005. In commenting on CPH, Bell said, “The entire Miami-Dade community has been blessed by the vision, passion and determination of our founder, Alvah Chapman, Jr., and by the enduring efforts of our board members, countless volunteers, and highly professional staff who, along with the numerous social service agencies that assist us, have enabled CPH to reduce homelessness in Miami-Dade from over 8,000 in 1995 to 849 in the most recent census. Yet, despite this unprecedented success rate, we intend to continue to attack this condition vigorously until we have effectively eliminated homelessness in Miami-Dade County. “

Nearly 300 guests enjoyed the fabulous hors d’oeuvres and entertainment as part of the celebration introducing the exciting new vehicle models released just last week. A silent auction filled with wonderful items donated by local businesses as well as door prizes were also main features of the evening.

“We are excited to introduce the new E-Class models to our friends and neighbors in this most positive way,” said Blackwell. “Additionally, the ability to raise money for an important local charity while doing so sure helped to make our salon show a remarkable success.”
