AN EVENING OF THANKS AND HONORS Philanthropists Amarilis and Claudio Osorio honor Emilio Estefan, Romero Britto, Dr. Barth Green and Martha Ware for their contributions to our community
May 11, 2006 – Miami Beach, FL - Although they are known around the world for their stellar accomplishments, local residents – Emilio Estefan, Romero Britto, Dr. Barth Green and Dr. Pascal Goldschmidt – were the Ambassador hosts for the evening May 11th at the home of Amarilis and Claudio Osorio for their ongoing contributions to Community Partnership for Homeless and its annual fundraising challenge, the BCBS of Florida Celebrity 5K. Miami’s Community Partnership for Homeless (CPH) has truly become a partnership between these prominent community leaders and the formerly homeless residents who rely on CPH. Contributing their time, major auction items or money, Estefan, Britto, Green and Ware have been instrumental in bringing attention to CPH and contributing to the organization’s operating budget. “I cannot emphasize how much we appreciate the efforts of all our wonderful volunteers and staff,” says CPH Executive Committee and Board Member, Amarilis Osorio, “but the contribution these four have made in spite of their hectic and demanding schedules, public and private obligations and “star” power, have truly awed and inspired me. They are great role models for all of us.” The Evening was filled with excitement. Handsome valet attendees greeted you as you pulled up to the beautifully lit driveway. As soon as you entered the Osorio Estate on Star Island you knew that something special was going to take place. The back patio over-looking the pool and the beautiful inter-coastal was adorned by the sun setting over Miami. The tables aligned with black tablecloths and beautiful orange and red tulip arrangements set the mood. Peter Betan played sultry Jazz tunes. Teri’s Catering was on hand to feed the guests. Sushi, Dimsum, carved roast beef, hand-cut homemade French fries, and giant paella were just a few things offered. The cocktails were flowing as the guest arrived. Among the well known was Gloria & Emilio Estefan, Romero Britto, Lili Estefan, Alvah & Betty Chapman, Kathy & Barth Green, Maggie & Armando Codina, Commissioner Sally Heyman, Ella Cisneros, Nena Moran, Father Alberto Curie, Maria & Armando Guerra, Lali & Ramon Rasco, Gromy & Alberto Latour, Stephanie & Morton Aggard-Sayfee, Dr. Pascal Goldsmith, Swanee & Paul DiMare, Lili & Robert Chisholm, Trish & Dan Bell, George Foyo, Nancy & Robert Hector, Alexia & Herman Echeverria, Roni & Sam Jacobson, Frank Amadeo & Yolanda Berkowitz. The exclusive viewing and private auction of Romero Britto’s original painting, “Walking Journey”, whose image graced t-shirts and other items distributed at the 2006 BCBS of Florida Tropical 5K run in January. All proceeds from the auction of this painting, sale of a Britto sculpture and the highest bid for a portrait painted by Britto, was donated to CPH. Internationally acclaimed Pop artist, Romero Britto has completed portraits of Roger Federer, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and other well-known figures. Gio Williams, one of Miami’s newest and hottest up and coming stars, gave a tribute to CPH by singing a very special song. The evening ended with Teri’s passing his famous handed dipped chocolates to all the guests.
