(September 1999) - Sandy Batchelor is Vice President, Secretary,
General Counsel and a Director of Aerospace Finance, Corp. and its
affiliates. She is also Chairman of the Board and Co-CEO of The
Batchelor Foundation, Inc. Sandy has a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife
Biology from the University of Arizona, a Masters of Forest Resources
and Conservation from the University of Florida, a J.D. from St. Thomas
University of Law and a LLM in Estate Tax Planning from the University
of Miami School of Law.
(April 2004) - Trish Bell is a dedicated civic activist and
philanthropist in Miami since 1977. She devotes much time to planning
events and raising funds for causes that improve the community,
especially the under-served sector. Her focus areas have been numerous.
She presently serves as Co-Chair/Museum of Science, provides counseling
in the Stephen Minister Program, and actively supports Kendall United
Methodist Church, Miami Urban Ministries, Red Cross, Informed Families,
Ronald MacDonald House, FAN, the Ballet, and Coconut Grove Playhouse.
Trish and husband, Dan, have been married for 42 years, have three
children, and together enjoy boating, traveling, music and sports.
(December 2003) - Yolanda Berkowitz has an extensive background in real
estate and sales. Prior to her residency in Miami, Berkowitz was a
managing partner with a multi-national foreign corporation based in Hong
Kong. Living in Miami since 1995, Berkowitz has focused her efforts on
community involvement. She has served as a board member of Adopt-A-Pet,
Telluride Historical Museum and she is a trustee of Voices for Children
Foundation, Inc. Berkowitz is also a child advocate with the Guardian Ad Litem Program.
(September 1993) – Creed C. Black is a native Kentuckian, an infantry
veteran of World War II and a graduate of Northwestern University and
the University of Chicago. He spent most of his career as a newspaper
editor and publisher but also served two years as an assistant secretary
of the U.S. Department of Health, Education & Welfare. He retired in
1998 after a decade as president and CEO of the John S. and James L.
Knight Foundation. He is married to the former Elsa Goss, an attorney
and journalist, and has four children and eight grandchildren.
(July 2000) - Philip F. Blumberg, founder and CEO of American Ventures
group of companies ranking among the top real estate investment managers
in the US. He serves on the Boards of Florida Chamber of Commerce,
Florida Council of 100, University of Miami, Beacon Council, Orange Bowl
Committee, CPHI and Greater Miami Foreign Trade Zone - also a member of
Florida Council of 100 and Miami Business Forum. He’s a past Chairman of
Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Graduated from the University of
North Carolina-Chapel Hill, received a B.S. with Honors, and an M.B.A.
from Harvard Business School.
(October 2004) – Paula Brockway currently serves on the board of
trustees for Palmer Trinity School, as well as the board of trustees for
St. Thomas Episcopal School and recently served as senior warden of the
church, also on the board for Beaux Arts, and the Museum of Science and
Planetarium. Brockway has an extensive history of involvement in many
organizations throughout Miami, including Baptist Children’s Hospital,
the Eisenhart Concert Series, the American Red Cross, and the University
of Miami.
(May 2004) – Nicholas G. Bustle is City President of Miami for SunTrust
Bank South Florida Region and Commercial Banking Line of Business
Manager for the South Florida Region. He has been with SunTrust Bank for
17 years. Active in Miami-Dade community, Bustle serves on the Board of
Directors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of
the Executive Committee of the Beacon Council. Bustle holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of
Wisconsin-Platteville and a Master of Science degree in International
Business from Florida International University.
(September 1993) - Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. is the Founding Chairman of
Community Partnership for Homeless, Inc. A third generation newspaper
executive, he retired as Chairman of Knight Ridder in 1989 after almost
30 years with the company and continued as a Knight Ridder Director
through April 2000. His many civic involvements have included service as
Chairman of We Will Rebuild following Hurricane Andrew, Founding
Chairman of Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, and 31 years as a
Director of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. A native of
Columbus, Georgia, he graduated from The Citadel, Military College of
South Carolina, in 1942. After graduation, he served as a B-17 bomber
pilot and squadron commander in World War II completing 37 combat
missions with the 8th Air Force.
(September 1993) - Robert E. Chisholm has been involved
from the beginning with Community Partnership for Homeless as a member
of the Board, Chairman of the Design & Construction committee and more
recently as a member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Chisholm is Owner
and President of R.E. Chisholm Architects. Mr. Chisholm blends his
architectural skills into leadership initiatives bringing architects and
the community into common efforts through involvement in the community
business leadership, disaster relief, codes, procedures and social
architecture issues through his personal service and accomplishments.
Mr. Chisholm was inducted into the Second Annual Alumni Hall of Fame for
Architecture and Community Service for Miami-Dade College; elected to
the Board of Trustees for Beacon Council; Chairperson of the South
Florida National Parks Trust; Member of New World Center Committee of
Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce; Past Board member of the Latin
Builders Association; past Chairperson of the South Beach Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce; Member Kiwanis Club of Little Havana; Chairperson
for Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas National Parks for the South
Florida National Parks Trust; Board of Directors Allapattah YMCA; Beacon
Council Member; during Hurricane Andrew emergency efforts he rallied and
led architects in Miami to provide pro-bono services in cooperation with
government efforts; has received numerous national urban design awards
as well as elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute
of Architects (FAIA). Mr. Chisholm was awarded the Jubilee 2000
Pontifical Medal by the Vatican and the Archdiocese of Miami. Mr.
Chisholm received Masters degree from the University of Miami. He and
his wife, Lilliam, have two adult children.
(July 2004) - Bonnie M. Crabtree is the Managing Director of Korn/Ferry
International’s Florida office. She has been in executive search for
fifteen years and her international and domestic assignments have
spanned a wide variety of functions at the senior executive levels. Ms.
Crabtree is Chair of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters,
Greater Miami, on the Board of Florida International University
Foundation, the Board of Governors of the Miami City Club, and the Board
of Governors of the Miami Chamber of Commerce.
(September 2003) - Nancy Davis is chairman of the board and president of
McArthur Farms, Inc. and McArthur Management Company. She is highly
active in numerous organizations in the community professionally and
personally, ranging from agriculture to the arts. Davis currently serves
as vice-chairman of the Florida Land Council and director of Florida
Dairy Farmers, Inc. Davis is also director of the Performing Arts
Center, Florida Grand Opera, and Historic Bok Sanctuary. She is a
founding director of the Miami City Ballet.
(September 1993) - Annette Eisenberg served on the boards of the
Urban Renewal Area Program, Little HUD, Downtown Development Authority,
City of Miami Code Enforcement, Wynwood Area Empowerment Zone, and the
Downtown Bay Forum.
Awards include: Prominent People in Florida Government, Citizen of the
Day, Martin Luther King Memorial Brotherhood, Florida Electronic
Service’s Woman of the Year, Edison Middle School’s Pacesetter, the
naming of “The Annette Eisenberg Community Center”, Edison Park
Outstanding Support Award, John F. Kennedy Award for Community Services,
Tifereth Israel’s Presidential Award and Woman of the Year.
(July 2003) – Carlos Fernandez-Guzman is the executive vice president of
the marketing division for BankUnited, Florida’s largest Florida-based
bank with branches located throughout south and west Florida. Over his
30-year career, Fernandez-Guzman has served as a top executive at
various companies in the Miami area including XTec, Southeast Banks,
American Savings of Florida, Riverdale Investments and Consolidated
Bank. He is active in many civic organizations including the Greater
Miami Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Dade County as well as the
board of directors of United Home Heath Care.
(September 2002) Nancy Hector is the retired principal of Miami-based Bayview Financial Trading Group, which was founded in 1993. Prior to
that she served as Managing Director and COO of Reserve Financial
Company and was employed by banking giants Citicorp and Bankers Trust in
New York. Hector is one of the founders of “I Have a Dream Foundation,”
a private trust established by Bayview that mentors and tutors children
in Liberty City beginning in elementary school through high school with
the goal of helping finance their college education. She is a supporter
of the Charlie Foundation, recently providing funding to purchase land
in North Carolina to build a summer camp for foster children. Hector
resides in Coral Gables with her husband and four children.
(October 1994) - Dorothy Jenkins Fields, PhD - Founder of the Black
Archives, History & Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc. -
Historian Dr. Dorothy Fields is a native whose maternal grandparents
settled in Overtown, the Colored section of Miami, in 1903. Her life’s
work is community transformation through scholarly research and historic
preservation, tools to help indigenous residents gain employment. She
saved the Lyric Theater and other buildings from the wrecking ball.
Inspired by Alvah Chapman’s efforts to build a model comprehensive
homeless shelter adjacent to Overtown, she is a longtime CPHI board
member.
(March 2002) - Rev. Roberto Garza is Pastor of San Isidro Catholic
Church in Pompano Beach, Fl. He is also the Director of Mission
Effectiveness and an Executive Board Member of Catholic Charities of the
Archdiocese of Miami; Executive Board and Ethics Committee Member of
Catholic Hospice, Inc.; Executive Board Member of the Florida Community
Loan Fund, Inc.; President of Verbo y Vida/Word and Life Catholic
Television Ministry; and a Spiritual Director at St. John Vianney
College Seminary in Miami.
(December 2004) - John Krousouloudis is currently Vice President-Marine
Operations for Celebrity Cruises, responsible for the marine, technical,
safety and environment management of Celebrity’s fleet. He has held
various engineering and management positions with Exxon Corp, Group Vice
President in Greece and England for ABS and Chief Operating Officer of
AVIN International, a major oil tanker company. He holds a B.E. in Naval
Architecture from the State University of New York and an MBA from
Michigan State University.
(September 1999) - R. Kirk Landon is retired Chairman of American
Bankers Insurance Group. He is currently the Chairman of Innovative
Surveillance Technology and Orange Clothing. Also, he serves as a
Trustee of Florida International University and holds Board positions in
Arts for Learning, Community Partnership for Homeless and The Zoological
Society of Florida.
John Malloy, Jr. is a senior managing director and partner of
Everest Capital, an investment advisory firm. Malloy joined the company
in 1996 and has 14 years of experience in research analysis and
international investment management. He received a bachelor's degree in
management from Norwich University, Military School of Vermont, and a
master's in business administration from the Boston University Graduate
School of Management. He is a vestry member of St. Thomas Episcopal
Parish of Coral Gables, FL.
(April 2004) - Allan J. Pekor is chairman of Lennar Financial Services
and executive director of the Lennar Foundation. Originally from the New
York area Pekor worked for Deloitte & Touche and the Rockefeller
organization. In addition to his duties at Lennar, he serves on the
Board of United Way, Inroads and Temple Beth Sholom. Pekor holds a
bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pace University, New
York, where he is a member of the Board of Trustees.
Darryl Robinson is vice president of
Transwestern Commercial Services, a national commercial real estate
firm. Robinson provides tenants and property owners with a broad
spectrum of real estate services and represents clients in complex
transactions for properties located throughout Florida and in other
parts of the country. Robinson serves on the board of the South Florida
Community Christian Foundation. He resides in Coral Gables, FL.
(April 2000) - Wayne Schuchts, real estate professional, innovator, born
March 25, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Wayne at age 9 moved to
Florida and attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory, where he is
now chairman of the Board of Directors. He graduated from the University
of Virginia in 1984 with additional studies at Colgate University. Wayne
briefly played professional football. Wayne has 22 years of commercial
real estate experience serving many Fortune 500 Companies real estate
needs. Wayne is married to the beautiful Tara Elias and is blessed with
two special children – Brooke and Jameson.
(December 2004) - The Reverend Thom Shafer is the senior pastor of First
United Methodist Church of Coral Gables. He has served in various
positions of leadership within United Methodism: consultant with United
Methodist Committee on Relief; chairperson for the Florida Conference
Council on Ministries; and most recently as District Superintendent of
the Jacksonville District. Currently he serves on the Boards of
Directors for the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, Community
Partnership for Homeless, and Chairperson of theDade and Broward
Districts of the United Methodist Church. Reverend Shafer is married to
Karen King Shafer and they have two teenage children.
Suzanna Valdez is program director for the John S. and James L.
Knight Foundation. She has over 16 years of management and public
relations experience in the legislative, government, academic and
private sectors. Past government positions include her presidential
appointment in 1993 to the White House Office of Public Liaison, where
she served as the principal liaison to the Hispanic community. In 2001,
Valdez pursued a graduate degree at Columbia University and was named
associate director of the Eugene M. Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at
Columbia Business School. In May 2004, she received an MPA with a
concentration in international economic policy.
(September 1993) - H. Daniel Vincent has been Executive Director
of Community Partnership for Homeless since 2001. Dan came to Community
Partnership with nearly twenty-two years of experience in non-profit
charitable organizations, primarily with The Salvation Army. While with
The Salvation Army he served as an officer, professional employee as
well as ordained/commissioned officer with the rank of Major. He is an
active member of civic and business organizations. He is currently on
the Board of Directors of Touching Miami With Love, has served as the
Vice Chair of Miami-Dade County Emergency Food & Shelter Board as well
as the Chair of Miami-Dade VOAD.
(June 2001) - Joanna D. Wragg, APR, is a principal of Wragg & Casas
Public Relations, Inc. A member of the Counselors Academy of the Public
Relations Society of America, she is Accredited in Public Relations
(APR). A board member of the business organization, Florida TaxWatch,
Wragg also is Trustee of the National Cathedral Association of
Washington National Cathedral. A former journalist, Wragg is a past
president of the National Conference of Editorial Writers and former
associate editor of The Miami Herald.
(December 2004) - Stefan H. Zachar, III, a third generation Miamian has
been aware of the homeless issues dating back to his teenage days. Being
involved with CPHI and serving the residents has a spiritual meaning to
him. "I want my children to appreciate how lucky they are and never
forget that each one of us is special no matter our circumstance." He
started Tropees" of the Historical Museum of Southern Florida and has
served on numerous boards in the community. Stefan is a Vice President
with Goldman Sachs & Co. Private Wealth Management.
